INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A fund has been established to help victims of the Indiana State Fair stage collapse.

Five people died and 45 people were injured Saturday when the rig over the grandstand collapsed with a gust of wind. The fund created will go toward the families of those who died and people who suffered injuries.

The organization helping collect the money says it's sometimes tricky to bring in the cash and disperse it in a fair, logical, and legal way.

“This money is to help the families of the victims and the people who have been injured," said Brian Payne, president and CEO of the Central Indiana Community Foundation. "We want to give the money out in a way that will help the families the most."

The Central Indiana Community Foundation will oversee the fund established by the Indiana State Fair Commission and the foundation.

People interested in donating can do so online at the CICF website .

Donations can also be made by check. Checks should be made payable to Central Indiana Community Foundation with “Indiana State Fair Remembrance Fund” written in the memo line of the check.

Checks should be sent to CICF, ATTN: Indiana State Fair Remembrance Fund, 615 N. Alabama St., Indianapolis, IN 46204-1498.
