INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - They cheered, they chanted, they partied, and they did it all on the new Georgia Street.

“It's so close to the stadium, your right down Georgia Street, you're hanging out there are a few bars, you meet a lot of other fans,” said Marc Rehmann, Michigan State Fan.

Fans warmed up under the heat lamps, stayed safe with stepped up security, ate like there's no tomorrow at the open tents, and many enjoyed a few drinks with pals while watching the game on flat screen outdoor TV's.

“You always want to either do stuff before and after the game and there is something for everybody down here,” said Tom Cummings, Michigan State Fan.

Earlier in the day, fans geared up for the game on Georgia Street. Everyone we talked to said after hanging at the new downtown hot spot, they're ready to come back for some Super Bowl Action.

“Everybody is having a good time. The city is opening up their arms and saying come on have a great time and they are doing a good job,” said John Krenke, Wisconsin Fan

The new Georgia Street isn't just good for business. The project is changing some places you might never have imagined

“We're really excited because we have the chance to open wide the doors of our church to people. We’re giving tours of oldest church in the city of Indianapolis,” said Father Rick Nagel at St. John Evangelist Church.

So if the fans are judging, it looks like Georgia Street's major public debut, the Big Ten tailgate party, was a total success.
