INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A portrait of Governor Mitch Daniels was unveiled Tuesday during a public ceremony at the Indiana State House. The portrait will become part of the governor's portrait collection, managed by the Indiana State Museum.

Historically, the portrait of the most immediate past governor is displayed in the lobby of the governor's state house office.

The portrait was painted by Richard Halsted of Lafayette. Halsted was selected from 43 applicants as the painter back in January..

Artists considered to paint the portrait  were required to be a resident or native of Indiana and were asked to provide a resume of their work, training, and their approach to portrait painting. Halsted was selected after a round of interviews with six finalists.
