INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis gas station sold a $9.5 million ticket last week, and then sold a $1 million ticket over the weekend.
The five winners of the $1 million Powerball prize claimed their prize Monday morning.
“Everyone was tired because we couldn’t sleep,” one of the group members told 24-Hour News 8. “We were still in shock when we got to the Hoosier Lottery office. It still hasn’t sunk in yet. It is just unbelievable.”
Some are still having a hard time believing the group purchased the winning ticket at 8101 E. 21st Street. It is the same Speedway where someone purchased a $9.5 million Hoosier Lotto ticket days before.
But what are the odds of one store selling two winning tickets in a row?
“It is all random. Six numbers are drawn and it just depends who is holding the tickets with those numbers," Al Larsen whit Hoosier Lottery said.
The gas station sits across the street from Old Bethel Church.
24-Hour News 8 asked customers if they thought the location was lucky or a source of divine intervention.
“Well, luck but church probably helps too, yep.” Joe Beaver said.
The five Powerball winners aren’t calling it luck. They had their $1 million check made payable to "Blessed."
All five work at a local medical claims office. The woman who purchased the ticket told 24-Hour News 8 she plans to invest some of the money and start a college fund for her three children.
