Newborn dies after mom takes rat poison

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Metro Police say a mother killed her baby when she intentionally ingested rat poison.
Police tell 24-Hour News 8 before giving birth 34-year-old Bei Bei Shuai told friends in Anderson she took some kind of rat poison on or about December 23, 2010.
They rushed her to St. John’s Hospital where hospital officials transferred her to Methodist Hospital.
Shuai gave birth to Angel Shuai on New Year’s Eve. Angel died on January 2, 2011.
The coroner ruled consumption of rat poison caused the infant’s death.
Metro Police have ruled the death a homicide.
Investigators are waiting to talk to the mother who is currently being held at Methodist Hospital.
