INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indianapolis police are searching for a young girl who may have been the victim of an abduction attempt Wednesday.

Several people intervened when they saw a man holding onto the arm of a girl, believed to be about 11 years old, and trying to force her into a truck at about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday near Emerson Avenue and Thompson Road, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.

The girl ran away before police arrived. The man was later arrested and preliminarily charged with operating while intoxicated, but investigators want to talk with her as they consider possible abduction charges against the man.

Police have searched for the girl and posted fliers, but are now seeking the public’s help to locate her. The only descriptive information available is that the girl was white with blond hair. The truck involved was a brown or gold 1997 Chevrolet truck.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
