INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indiana State Police say I-65 northbound lanes and I-70 eastbound lanes have reopened after a weekend of repair work.
INDOT Media Relations Director Nathan Riggs said Sunday afternoon crews were making progress on repairs to the Virginia Avenue bridge that was damaged Friday afternoon following a semi accident.
Riggs told 24-Hour News 8 that INDOT was optimistic repairs could be completed by the Monday morning commute.
The accident happened Friday afternoon on I-65 at the 110.5 mile marker near the I-70 south split.
The accident caused the beam on the Virginia Avenue bridge to split.
Over the weekend, I-70 eastbound traffic has been diverted to I-65 southbound at the south split and I-65 northbound traffic has been diverted to I-70 westbound.
