Indy doctor denies sex crime charges

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis doctor was arrested Monday on outstanding warrants for battery and sexual battery.
Dr. Segun Rasaki was taken into custody at his family medical practice at 3266 North Meridian Street.
Police say the charges against Dr. Rasaki stem from an investigation into complaints made by several female patients.

Additionally, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Sex Crimes Unit is seeing any additional victims who may have been patients. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to call 317-327-3332.

According to court documents, two patients reported concerns to authorities after what they said were inappropriate interactions and actions of an apparently sexual nature on Rasaki's part. They also both reported inappropriate questions and conversations on the doctor's part prior to the actions that prompted the reports.

One patient told investigators with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Rasaki tried to talk her into a pap smear, then he asked if she'd "do favors" in exchange for higher doses of medicine.

Another patient said back in December the doctor fondled her breast and made inappropriate comments. During one visit, she alleged, the 48-year old asked her if she “had a boyfriend or a baby’s daddy.” After informing the doctor that she was married, she said, he asked her: “You don’t have anybody to call when you need sex?’

But Rasaki insists he is innocent.

After sitting in jail most of the day Monday, he returned to his office at 3266 N. Meridian St.

When asked if he touched any of his patients inappropriately he said: “No, no never. Not at all.”

He claims the allegations are lies.

“When (patients) are not happy,” he said, “they go out and make up all kinds of stories.”

Meanwhile. Rasaki’s ability to see patients is still intact according to the state’s website . His ability to prescribe certain controlled prescription medication has been suspended.
