Indy shooting victim dies

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.(WISH) - The victim of a shooting early Monday morning has died as the result of his wounds.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received a report via cell phone of a shooting on the city’s near southeast side. The caller said they heard four shots fired. When police arrived they found a man lying in the middle of the street in the 1600 block of Iowa Street. 

Marcus Willis, 27, was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital, and police said he told them he did not know who shot him.

The Marion County coroner told police Willis died of his injuries around 5:30 a.m.  Monday.
