INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The newest addition to the downtown skyline-- is nearing completion. The brand new JW Marriott hotel will be open in less than a year, and 24 Hour News 8 has behind the scenes access to what's already been finished.

Floors 5 through 18 are complete. King and queen sized beds already in place, the rooms have plush carpeting and flat screen TV's.

"There's about 105-thousand square feet of meeting space including a 40,500 square foot ballroom. It's the largest ballroom in the state, in the midwest really, and you'll be looking at 1,005 JW Marriott rooms." Jeremy Stephenson VP of Development said.

And speaking of ballparks, a gigantic ballroom will overlook Victory Field, although it's still hard to imagine what it will look like once it's done. Some more work is still needed on the lower and upper levels, and the state-of-the-art fitness center is tough to picture without the drywall or exercise equipment, but it too, is coming along.

"Having one thousand rooms in one hotel is very key in terms of attracting a certain level of convention. That, in conjunction with the convention center expansion, puts us in a whole new ballpark in terms of landing some of those events." Steve Cain, a member of the management team, said.

"We're ahead....of schedule. Our start date is February 8th of next year, and where we are right now is certainly pointing to that time frame," Stephenson added.
