IPS hires interim superintendent

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - IPS has officially hired an interim superintendent to replace Dr. Eugene G. White.

At the Indianapolis Public Schools Board of School Commissioners meeting Tuesday night, officials announced Dr. Peggy Hinckley at the interim superintendent.

Dr. Hinckley will begin her duties on March 4. Hinckley is on contract for six months, but the school board has the flecibility to modify the length of her contract.

Dr. Hinckley will remain in office until the school board hires a full-time superintendent.

Dr. Eugene G. White announced his plans to retire in early January.
