INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indianapolis Public Schools Board of Trustees voted Tuesday night to appoint Dr. Peggy Hinckley as the district’s interim superintendent.
According to an IPS press release, she will take the position on March 4.
Dr. Eugene White announced last month his intention to retire on April 5. Hinckley will serve as superintendent until a permanent superintendent is hired.
Hinckley has many years of experience in the capacity. She served as the superintendent of Warren Township from 2001 to 2012 and superintendent of LaPorte Community School Corp. from 1989 to 2001. She was also the superintendent of Hobart Township Schools from 1984 to 1989.
She retired from Warren Township last year to start her own education consulting business.
Hinckley graduated from Indiana University. She earned a master’s degree from Purdue University, an education specialist degree from Indiana State University and an doctor of education from Loyola University in Chicago.
