INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The fate of the ISO is in jeopardy once again. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is struggling to reach its fund raising goal.
In order to live up to the terms of an agreement made with the musicians union, the ISO has to raise $5 million by February 3 or their current contract with the musicians will be voided.
The two sides came together in October after a five week lockout-resulting in several show cancelations.
So far the ISO has raised $3.2 million. Jessica Di Santo with the ISO says if they don’t reach the goal, it does not necessarily mean no more shows.
“It does not mean anything other than we are going to go back to the negotiating table and make sure that we have a symphony that has a plethora of concerts and programs that we can work with in a financial model that makes sense. We just don't know what that is yet and that is what the negotiating table is for."
Under the current agreement, the starting pay for musicians dropped from $78,000 to $58,000 a year.
