INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The “Jazz Masters of Indiana” mural will be dedicated Saturday afternoon to honor Indianapolis jazz musicians.
The mural was painted by Pamela Bliss for the “46 for XLVI” program during the Super Bowl to beautify Indianapolis. The mural depicts musicians playing on historic Indiana Avenue during the 50s and 60s.
Trombonist Slide Hampton will be a guest speaker at the dedication. Hampton is also pictured on the mural. During the dedication, each of the musicians or their families will be recognized for keeping Indiana’s Jazz heritage alive.
The dedication will take place on Saturday July 14 at 3 p.m at Musicians’ Repair and Sales located at 322 N. Capitol Ave.
