Judge stops distribution of $9.5 lottery jackpot

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A $9.5 million lottery jackpot at the center of a legal fight among coworkers won't be distributed any time soon.

On Friday, a judge granted an injunction that freezes the money until a decision can be made on who the money belongs to.

Eight stylists from an east side Indianapolis hair salon pooled their money to buy tickets for the Hoosier Lottery's Feb. 17 drawing.

The stylist who handled the money bought the winning ticket at an east side Speedway gas station – a ticket worth $9.5 million.

But she claimed, the winning ticket was one she bought for herself, not for the group.

The group is now fighting in court over the prize money.
