INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Organizers are hoping a program promoting healthy eating at Indianapolis Public Schools will expand to other cities and states.

The program, Find Your Favorite, promotes healthy choices by touting local celebrities’ favorite fruits and vegetables with posters, educational materials, events and even grocery offers. It encourages children to try different produce and find their own favorite.

The kickoff event on Wednesday at IPS School 99, Arlington Woods Elementary, 5801 E. 30th St., featured IndyCar driver Graham Rahal, Olympic gold medalist David Boudia, and the Colts and Indians mascots, Blue and Rowdie – who are all featured on their own posters.

Other celebs to be featured include the Colts’ Dwight Freeney, the Pacers’ George Hill and the Fever’s Tamika Catchings.

The Indianapolis Fruit Company and The Produce Mom are spearheading the campaign. IPS is the first school district in the nation to be part of the campaign, which will be expanding to every school in the IPS system. The healthy eating campaign will also be expanded to other communities, organizers said.
