INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The historic bronze Victory sculpture will return to Monument Circle on Friday following several months of repairs and reconditioning.
The public will be allowed to get an up close look at lady Victory before she is hoisted to the top of Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
The sculpture was first place on top of the monument in August 1893.
“A talented group of professionals, brought together by the Public Works Division of the Indiana Department of Administration, worked seamlessly to complete limestone repairs and to return the Victory sculpture to better than new condition in less time than anticipated,” said Commissioner Robert D. Wynkoop. “We believe this project will keep the sculpture and limestone eagles in good repair for another 100 years.”
