INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis lawyer and accountant will spend eight years behind bars after admitting to stealing from clients.

Prosecutors say Stacy Sheedy pled guilty to two counts of theft after admitting to taking money from a guardianship account and a family trust account.

One of Sheedy’s victims was a Hamilton County woman living with Alzheimer's disease, which after investigation revealed she took $596,000 from the woman’s account, prosecutors say.

The prosecutor stated that Sheedy is an attorney that abused the trust of her client and therefore, she will spend the maximum sentence according to the plea agreement.

Due to incidents such as this, the Marion County Prosecutor's office started the "Good Government Hotline" last year, where you can report white collar crime, public corruption, and gang activity by calling 327-2700.
