INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A “Lights Out” ceremony was held Friday night for the official closing of the Pepsi Coliseum prior to its renovation.
The Indiana State Fair Commission held the ceremony at the conclusion of the National FFA rodeo to signify the final event before the Coliseum is renovated.
Indiana First Lady Cheri Daniels, Fair Commission Chairman Andre Lacy, Fair Commission Executive Director Cindy Hoye, State Fair dignitaries and thousands of National FFA members were in attendance.
The now old Pepsi Coliseum has hosted thousands of events over the last 73 years.
The renovation is part of a $63 million project that involves a complete refurbishment of the interior. The renovation will be complete before the 2014 Great Indiana State Fair.
The Coliseum will host an open house on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon where the general public can take a tour of the building one final time.
