INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A south side Indianapolis man says he awoke Thursday morning to find his car on fire just a few feet from his house.
Ben Kalal says he was asleep on the couch and awoke around 2:45 a.m. to the sound of someone pounding on his front door.
Kalal said he was half expecting it to be police to let him know about some suspicious activity in the neighborhood.
When he opened the door, a neighbor alerted him that his car on fire just feet away from the corner of his house in the 3500 block of East Terrace Avenue.
Kalal tells 24-Hour News 8 he is fearful for his family's safety. Police took a report, but left him with only a police report number.
The witness could only give police a vague description of a black SUV and a male subject wearing a dark hoodie in the area at the time.
Kalal says within the past week or so, another neighbor had his car set on fire. Just a few weeks earlier, other neighbors had their car windows and tail lights broken out, he said.
