INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis man was beaten and robbed by a group of people Monday just after he cashed his tax refund check.

At about 9:49 p.m., the man was jumped by several people and hit in the head with bottles and guns at a Speedway Gas Station, 1205 S.Lynhurst Dr., an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report said.

He told police the suspects went through his pockets taking $3,000 in cash he just received from a tax refund check and then stole his car.

The victim was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital for his injuries.

The report said a Speedway employee told police he saw five men in a black car walk over to the victim’s car, pulled him out of the vehicle and a fight broke out. The employee said she did not see any weapons used in the fight.
