INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A man was in extremely critical condition Friday morning after falling off the hood of a moving car Thursday night.

Officers say the accident happened at 10:40 Thursday evening in the 8200 block of Township Line Road.

Investigators say the incident began as a verbal fight between a young man and woman.

The woman was trying to leave the area when the man jumped on the hood of the car to try to prevent her from leaving. As she traveled southbound on Township Line road, the man jumped off or fell off the hood of the car, striking his head on the ground.

He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis in extremely critical condition. His identity has been confirmed and police are attempting to contact his family.

The driver of the car has been taken to a hospital for a legal blood draw.

Additional detectives will assist with the possible domestic violence aspect of the incident.

At this point in time, there have not been any arrests made connected to this incident.
