INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A man that shot a person in the back while he was allegedly robbing a home was found guilty Tuesday during a jury trial.

George Williams of Indianapolis, was found guilty in Marion County Criminal Court 4 for attempted murder, burglary, criminal confinement, theft, receiving stolen property and for not having a license for a handgun.

The jury trial began Monday and ended Tuesday. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. March 13.

Police say on May 9, Williams shot a 43-year-old man in the back after the man interrupted a burglary in his home, in the 1400 block of North Grant Avenue. The victim turned to leave and was shot.

Police believe the burglar may have used a weapon he found in the home.
