INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A Lawrence man died after being pinned by a semi Tuesday evening at a business on the northeast side of Indianapolis, police said.
Lawrence police said Randy Wimmer, 55, Lawrence, died Tuesday in a hospital after the accident at O'Neal Steel, 9990 E. 56th St.
Tthe driver of a semi tractor-trailer pulled up for a delivery at the business, backed in, then checked to see why his trailer wasn’t sealing properly. When the driver investigated, he found a man trapped there.
The driver pulled up to free the man, and medics were called. The man was transported to a hospital, but died there, police said. The intial call was made at about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday.
An autopsy is scheduled Wednesday morning. Police said a breath test revealed no alcohol in the driver’s system. IOSHA will be on the scene to investigate Wednesday.
