INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - One man was seriously burned and two others managed to escape their burning home early Monday morning.
Shortly after 3:30 a.m. residents at a home in the 300 block of South Holmes Avenue say they were awakened when smoke detectors sounded in their two story home.

The pair say they were able to escape by jumping from a second floor window.
A third person, a man in his 50s suffered burns and was rushed to Wishard Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
Two other people who lived in a converted garage in the back were safely evacuated.
When Indianapolis Firefighters arrived they found flames showing from all sides of the house. Additional fire units were called to the scene to help battle the flames. At one point firefighters were ordered out of the burning structure, but later were allowed to continue their interior fight.
Fire officials at the scene say the fire is believed to have started on the first floor of the house, possibly in a bedroom. Flames spread to the second floor and a house to the south of the fire scene suffered heat damage.
After the fire was out, investigators were inside the house investigating the cause of the fire.
Damage to the home is extensive.
