Man: Tattoos cost me job interview

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis man says he was denied an interview at an Indianapolis-based Republic Airways because of his tattoos.

A release said a man who was qualified to be a flight attendant was denied the opportunity to interview for the position because he has visible tattoos on his forearms.

The man filed a complaint in May with the Indiana Civil Rights Commission. After a preliminary investigation, the group believes there is a violation of the Indiana Civil Rights Law.

The release said there is evidence to support reasonable suspicion that the law provides remedies, including compensatory damages and injunctive relief, such as changes in the employer’s policies and training.
