MARION COUNTY (WISH) - The Marion County Fair is host to about 90,000 folks during its run.
Typically held in July or August, fair officials said they moved the fair up this year in part due to high heat in years past.
But it turns out that folks will have to deal with very high heat this year too.
Organizers, though, say they are prepared.
“We are on a wonderful knoll; we always have a breeze,” said Ron Phillips, with the Marion County Fair Board. “We have all the same misting fans as we had last year, and we've upgraded a couple. We've had misting fans that move with the crowd. So as different events are going on, then we will transport those fans with that group.”
Phillips said the fair has an EMT staff on duty at all times. A fire department crew is also on the grounds when the fair is open.
The Marion County Fair runs from Friday through June 30 at the Marion County Fairgrounds, 7300 E. Troy Ave.
