INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Friday, friends and family of a local Hoosier will gather at a local McDonald's to celebrate a milestone.

According to a news release, Harry Vorhis and his friend would meet at the McDonald's on South 16th Street for a sausage biscuit and cup of coffee for years.

Community members say Vorhis was not only a loyal customer, he was a model citizen.

In 2010, Lt. Governor Skillman named Vorhis a Golden Hoosier, recognizing individuals who have made a contribution to the state. Additionally, Former Governor Mitch Daniels awarded Vorhis the Distinguished Hoosier Award.

Friday, Vorhis' friends and family will gather at the McDonald's at 1611 N. Meridian to celebrate Vorhis' 103rd birthday.

"Living the sort of live Mr. Vorhis has for the past 103 years should be celebrated each day," says Reginald Jones, local McDonald's owner/operator. "Mr. Vorhis spirit and enthusiasm are noteworthy and we feel honored to get to be a part of his celebration."
