INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indiana State Fair reopened at 8 a.m. Monday for the first time since Saturday’s deadly accident for a remembrance service that honored those who were killed.

The seats in front of the Free Stage were filled well before the slated 9 a.m. start time. Those who could not find seats stood just outside. Video from Chopper 8 showed attendees spilling across the corner of the fairgrounds.

Indiana governor Mitch Daniels addressed the crowd saying his heart was heavy with sadness.

"We come today with hearts that are broken but also hearts that are full…broken for those who we lost and those who were harmed,” Daniels said.

The governor continued, saying his heart was full for those who rushed into the chaos to rescue, help and comfort the injured.

“There was a hero every 10 feet Saturday,” he said.

The victim’s names were read at the conclusion of Monday’s service as bouquets of bright, vibrant flowers, symbolizing the lives lost, were carried across the stage.

Then, the crowd assembled joined in singing “Amazing Grace.”

A strong gust of wind sent the rigging above the main stage tumbling to the ground just before 9 p.m. Saturday night.

Tammy Vandam , 42, Wantanah, Ind.; Glenn Goodrich , 49, Indianapolis; Alina Bigjohny , 23, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Christina Santiago , 29, Chicago; and Nate Byrd were all killed as a result of the accident.
