Ministers to speak at mall about violence

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Members of the Ten Point Coalition and other faith-based ministers will hold a joint press conference on downtown violence.

The group is expected to share their solutions in front of Circle Centre Mall on Friday at 10 a.m. This announcement comes on the heels of a violent weekend in the city — one where 16-year-old boy is accused of firing several shots in a crowded area at Capitol Avenue and Maryland Street.

Members of Ten Point Coalition believe a fight inside Circle Centre Mall that night may have spurred the shooting.

Shortly after the shooting, Director of Public Safety Troy Riggs said shootings are a citywide problem , not just an issue with downtown. He pledged a zero-tolerance policy of enforcement, saying officers would no longer give warnings to those breaking the law.
