INDIANAPOLIS, IND.(WISH) - More American Red Cross disaster volunteers are on their way to Florida.

Monday and over the weekend, nine more local volunteers headed south to help with various facets of the Red Cross response, including logistics, staffing, disaster mental health and public affairs.

American Red Cross volunteers are throughout the Gulf region, providing shelter and help in Florida, and preparing to open evacuation shelters in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

The agency is preparing for what could be a large disaster response across multiple states over the next several weeks, as 15 million people are now under warnings from Isaac.
