INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - State and local road crews have been out overnight clearing roads trying to make the Thursday morning commute easier.
Once the snow started falling Wednesday, the Indianapolis Department of Public Works sent 118 drivers out to begin plowing roads. Those crews worked in 12 hour shifts.
Those who worked overnight actually said they prefer that shift because they say they can get more accomplished since traffic is light.
While a number of roads have been cleared, drivers still need to be alert because conditions can change.
Emergency officials were reporting that some roads were coated in black ice, and bridges and overpasses remained slick.
State and local crews will remain out throughout the day Thursday, working on many secondary streets and authorities want to remind motorists to give those road crews plenty of room.
Some counties remain under travel advisories, watches and warnings, meaning traffic could be restricted. Check for the latest info in your area here .
