INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A mother and her eight children were displaced from their home Friday after a fire in the 2500 block of Guilford Ave.
A neighbor playing outside saw smoke coming from Courtney Barnette's home and called 911. Firefighters arrived on scene around 4:42 p.m. and were able to quickly stop the fire before it spread.
The fire left about $30,000 worth of damage to the home. No one was injured in this incident.
Neighbors say Barnette would often leave her oven door open for heat when it is cold outside.
