INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - One person was in critical condition Friday morning after a fire at a motorcycle club on the city’s near northeast side.
Friday around noon, Indianapolis Fire Department officials said the incident is being treated as an arson investigation.
Fire crews were sent to the club in the 2300 block of Yandes Street around 5 a.m. Friday. When they arrived, they saw significant flames, Indianapolis Fire Department public information officer Capt. Rita Burris said.
Firefighters found one person inside part of the building that wasn’t affected by fire. That person was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital and was known to sleep on the premises.
The Kentucky Gunslingers Motorcycle Club has had the building for about 30 years. It has a seating area, dance floor and DJ stand. Members own the building, and about 40 members are in the club.
Club members told IFD the last person left the building around 2:30 a.m.
IFD officials ask anyone with information about the fire to contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
