INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Nearly 5,000 residents in Central Indiana joined together in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Breast Cancer 5K Walk.

The walk was held to fight back against breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Among those walking were 250 breast cancer survivors. Members of the community honored survivors, educated people on how to reduce their risk, and raised funds to end the disease.

Funds raised helps the American Cancer Society provide free resources for those diagnosed with breast cancer, fund groundbreaking research, and ensure access for mammograms for women who need them.
