INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A call for help from police led to a startling find over the weekend.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officers were called Sunday to a home on the 1800 block of East Raymond Street. When police arrived, they found a 43-year-old man who suffers from mental and physical disabilities sitting in his own waste, covered in vomit and maggots.

Police wore protective gear as they helped to remove the man from the home. The man did have a caregiver, but her health is fading is she is unable to care for the man.

But there is help for those who can’t care for themselves and have no one to help them.

The Indianapolis Senior Center acts as a resource to help get not only seniors but those with disabilities help. CICOA Aging & In- Home Solutions workers make assessments for each person who may need help. The group then places people in contact with the proper people.

The number to CICOA Aging & In- Home Solutions 1-800- 432-2422. You can reach representatives at the Indianapolis Senior Center at 317-263-6272.
