LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) - A local man helped catch a burglar who was trying to get into a neighbor’s home Tuesday afternoon.
According to a police report, at 5:34 p.m. Tuesday, a resident told Lawrence police officers that a man walked around to the back of a home in the 4900 block of Katherine Drive, cut open a window screen and punched out a window. He told police that the man only broke the outer pane of glass and entered the residence through the back door after repeatedly kicking it until it broke open. He then looked around and left the property.
Lawrence Police Department officers were able to find the suspect, Terrence Malone, 25, of Indianapolis, in the 4700 block of Kitley Avenue. He was arrested on a preliminary charge of residential entry and taken to the Arrestee Processing Center.
The residence is unoccupied and currently up for sale or rent.
