INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officer is OK after an early Thursday morning crash, but his brand new squad car isn’t.
Crash investigators say Patrolman Tracy Dodd was headed south on Post Road near 25th Street around 2:15 a.m. when an older model Cadillac pulled out in front of him and hit his vehicle head on. The squad car had damage to its front driver’s side, but was still running at the scene. The Cadillac sustained heavier front end damage. Both cars had to be towed from the scene.
An IMPD Sergeant at the scene smelled alcohol on the Cadillac driver’s breath. He was taken to police headquarters for a breathalyzer test.
Police say Dodd’s car was a 2011 model, and had only been driven about 2,000 miles at the time of the crash.
