INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Conservative activist Grover Norquist is dropping tax talk for a bit next week to talk immigration.
Norquist will headline a summit on immigration next Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium. Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller is also scheduled to talk on a panel about the relationship between public safety officials and immigrants.
The Immigration Forum is organizing the daylong event. It will include Midwestern business, civic and religious leaders discussing possibilities for immigration reform.
Indiana lawmakers passed some of the toughest immigration laws in the nation last year. Zoeller has been criticized by conservative state senators for declining to defend the new laws in federal court following a Supreme Court ruling earlier this year invalidating a similar measure in Arizona.
