INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A Department of Correction offender was injured while picking up litter along Interstate 70 near the Indianapolis International Airport Wednesday morning.

The accident happened shortly before 11 a.m. near the 69.8 mile marker on westbound I-70.

The driver of an Indiana Department of Transportation bus, which transports offenders, was moving and accidentally pinned one of the offenders between the fender of the bus and a guardrail, according to an INDOT spokesperson.

The offender was reportedly taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Indiana State Police are investigating the accident.
