INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer David Moore was buried in the Heroes of Public Safety section at Crown Hill Cemetery on Friday.

The private ceremony, on a frozen landscape, lasted a mere 20 minutes. A solitary bag pipe belted “Amazing Grace” under the morning sun.

This ends a nearly two-week process. Moore was shot Jan. 23 after making a traffic stop. He was shot twice in the head and died three days later.

"As a father, I'll be very direct with you — I told my wife on the way, I wish you were driving here to put me in the ground and not him," Moore's father Spencer told 24-Hour News 8 Reporter Brad Edwards — the only reporter at the ceremony.

Moore, a retired Indianapolis Police Department Lieutenant, said the final thing he said to his son today:

"'Goodbye buddy,' he's my buddy," Moore said, choking back tears. "It's my buddy I'm leaving behind. I can't say much more than that."

IMPD Officer David Moore was 29.
