INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An officer's car was involved in an accident downtown Sunday night.

Police were called to the intersection of New York and West streets shortly after 9:30 p.m. Authorities at the scene say a police car was struck by a four door sedan.

The officer's car, which was driving eastbound on New York Street, entered the intersection with the green light/right of way.

A 20-year-old female driver traveling southbound on West Street entered the intersection and struck the officer's car on the driver's side, rear half, of the vehicle.

Both vehicles ended up in the northbound lanes of West Street, just south of the intersection.

Police say the officer and the other driver had minor injuries. The officer was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital with a possible head injury.

The second driver was checked out at the scene.
