INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police say a mother and her son were shot after a fire in their home this morning.

This happened on Forest Manor avenue near 38th and Sherman just before 7 a.m.

Forty-three-year-old Shanna Ford and her son, 23-year-old Zachary Joseph, ran out of the home to escape the flames.

Police say that’s when someone opened fire, hitting both of them.

Joseph was able to run to get help from a neighbor. 24 hour news 8 talked with that neighbor, Earnest Williams, who says this hits too close to home."

Both Ford and Joesph were last listed in serious but stable condition.

Police say the suspect is still on the loose and was wearing a dark hoodie and driving a dark sedan.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.
