INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - One person died and another was hurt in a shooting Tuesday evening on the city's near northwest side.

Police say the shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of East Riverside Drive and left 26-year-old Kenneth Reed dead.

When officers arrived they found Reed suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his chest and another man suffering from a gunshot wound to his foot.

Investigators believe Reed may have been attempting to either rob or carjack the alleged victim.

Detectives say a fight broke out between the two and several shots were fired. Both Reed and the victim were struck by bullets.

The robbery victim is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
