One person killed in home invasion

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - One person died Tuesday morning in an apparent home invasion on the city's northwest side.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to a home in the 3900 block of Kalmar Drive shortly before 3:30 a.m.

IMPD officials say three men forced their way into a house where a man, his girlfriend and two teenagers were sleeping. They demanded money and shot 43-year-old Mark Fuller in the chest, killing him.

The three men — described as black men in their 20s wearing masks — ran from the home.

Family members gave statements to police.

Police spent Tuesday afternoon patrolling the neighborhood.

“We wanted to let everybody know that we are still out here and we still care about what happened here. That’s why we are here,” said Lt. Homer Hamer.

Neighbors remembered Fuller as an easy-going man who would crack jokes. Fuller’s girlfriend said the former Anderson resident is the third sibling in his family to be murdered.

“Shocked," one area resident, Tina Akinyimide, said. "This is a quiet neighborhood.”

Investigators do not believe the shooting was random. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
