INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says a pedestrian is in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle.

The incident occurred near the intersection of 38th Street and Euclid just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officers say a 19-year-old man was waiting for a bus on the north side of the city. Traffic in the area was stopped.

An unknown, older model, pickup truck swerved to go around the stopped traffic and went into the right lane. The driver then drove up on to the grass and hit the 19-year-old man.

The truck went on and did not stop.

Police say the truck should have moderate, front end damage.

The patient was taken to the hospital.

Officers are looking for the van now. Police say road conditions and speed are probably factors in the crash.
