INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Two people had to jump from an apartment building Friday night after a fire broke out on the city's south side.
The Indianapolis Fire Department responded to the 2600 block of Brill Street shortly after 9 p.m. Friday to the report of a building fire. The area is near the intersection of Southern and Madison Avenues.
Residents say the fire started in the hallway of the building, which is a commercial and residential structure. Apartments are on the third floor of the building.
When crews arrived they found fire showing from the roof of the building, called Clancy's Banquet Hall.
Two women had to jump from a window to escape the heavy smoke. Four people were transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Firefighters had the fire under control within 30 minutes.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
