INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A man was found dead in front of a daycare on the far east side of Indianapolis, police said.
Police were called to the 3500 block of Roseway Drive, near 38th Street and Franklin Road, at about 7:40 a.m. Friday.
Police officials initially confirmed the person had been found fatally shot in front of New Beginnings Daycare, an in-home daycare. They also said the person shot was not a child. An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesman later backed off of that, however, refusing to confirm whether or not the person, a black man in his 20s, had been shot.
Despite police not releasing many details, neighbors believe the man was shot and his body was dropped off in the middle of the street.
"People are just cruel. If you don't have Christ you will do anything to anybody," said Kenya Brown.
Police told 24-Hour News 8 the investigation is ongoing. Homicide detectives were on the scene late Friday afternoon.
Police confirm the daycare has no connection to the man's body.
