INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police officials confirm a person was fatally shot on the city's east side late Thursday night.

Officers arrived to the scene of a shooting in the 2800 block of Brookside Avenue and found a black male lying in front of a house suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was pronounced dead by medics on scene.

Witnesses say they saw a gray or light colored 4-door vehicle, possibly a Chevy Impala leave the scene after shots were fired, according to police.

The car left the area heading westbound on Brookside Avenue with possibly three black males inside.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene to investigate. The victim has not been identified.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
