INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A person was fatally shot Wednesday night on the city's near north side, police confirm.

Officers were called to the 3100 block of Guilford Avenue, near 30th Street and Fall Creek Parkway, just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. They found a man in his 30s shot in the chest. The man was able to walk to a home in the area and ask residents to call for help.

Witnesses told police they had heard two gunshots, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.

The man was taken to an area hospital, but later died, police officials said. There was no word on possible suspects and the investigation was ongoing late Wednesday night.
